Creative Cloud Desktop failed to install. Have run as administrator, uninstalled, used Adobe Cleaner

Running Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition - Creative Cloud desktop looks like it's installing, gets 90% of the way there per status bar and then get message that it "failed to install" with no reason given.  Have run as administrator, uninstalled and reinstalled as administrator. Uninstalled again and run Adobe Cleaner, removed Photoshop CS5 and tried again to install, but the result each time is the same.  I turned off my internet security, used a LAN connection instead of wireless, and again, the same result.   I have a desktop icon for Adobe Creative Cloud, but it won't launch. I've gone to the file manually and again, run both regularly and as administrator and nothing happens at all, not even an error message.  I've tried downloading to a different drive and then trying to install from there, and I've tried installing both from IE 9 and from Chrome and nothing seems to make a difference. Please hlep.  I spent all day yesterday on this and I need to get to work.
